4-I guide
This ayah tells us that people will cry out, asking what is happening to the earth.
Start with bismillah.
Fill a glass to the brim with water and put it on a table. Gently tap the table. Ask: "What did the water do? Could you feel the tap?"
Watch the IRIS video about how seismometers record the ground moving in three directions. (It has background music.)
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What question will people ask?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How do scientists know when the ground moves far away?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Az-Zalzalah is surah 99. Find ayah 3. It is the person in this ayah who asks the question. Who do you think will know the answer?
Fact: What is the name of the wiggly line a seismometer draws?
Ages 5–8: Make a shake-detector. Tape a pen to a heavy weight hanging from a string over paper. Slide the paper while someone gently shakes the table.
Ages 9–12: Look up a live earthquake map online with an adult. How many small earthquakes happened around the world today?
Finish with: "I found that a seismometer records ___."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, when something surprises or worries me, I will say ___."
Action: Learn a short dua for when you're worried, and use it.
