4-I guide
This ayah condemns the people of the ditch, who harmed believers.
Start with bismillah.
A gentle note for parents: ayat 4 to 10 tell a sad story. Read them yourself first, and keep the talk short and calm.
Ask: "Have you seen trees in a strong wind? Why don't they all fall over?"
Watch the WIRED video about how live oak trees survive hurricanes.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Who is this ayah about?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why would anyone hurt people for believing?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Buruj is surah 85. Find ayah 4. The key words ashab al-ukhdud mean the people of the ditch. They were cruel people long ago who tried to force believers to give up their faith. The believers stayed firm.
Fact: How do a tree's roots help it stay standing in a storm?
Ages 5–8: Root test. Plant two seedlings: one in deep soil, one in a shallow tray. After a few weeks, blow on them with a fan. Which stands better?
Ages 9–12: Bend, don't break. Find out why bendy branches survive storms better than stiff ones. Test it with a dry twig and a green one.
Finish with: "I found that trees stay standing in storms because ___."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will grow my roots by ___ (praying, reading Quran, making dua)."
Action: Do your root-growing habit each day.
