4-I guide
Surah Al-Buruj opens with an oath by the sky full of great stars and star-groups.
Start with bismillah.
On a clear night, look up and try to join some stars into a shape. Ask: "What picture can you make?"
Watch the SciShow Kids video about constellations.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What does Allah swear by here?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why do stars seem to make patterns?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Buruj is surah 85, and it has twenty-two ayat. Find ayah 1. The surah is named after the key word al-buruj: the great stars and the groups they form, like towers in the sky. Star patterns helped people find their way and know the seasons. (Star-signs that claim to tell the future are not part of Islam.)
Fact: How did travellers use the stars to find their way at night?
Ages 5–8: Star pattern. Stick paper stars on dark card in the shape of a group you can find in the sky. Join them with chalk.
Ages 9–12: Sky map. Find out which star groups you can see from your home this month. Draw a simple sky map and mark north.
Finish with: "I found that travellers used the stars to ___."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will find one star group in the sky and say subhanAllah."
Action: Find one star group in the sky and say subhanAllah.
