4-I guide
When they saw the believers, they would say these people have gone astray.
Start with bismillah.
Show the two arrows of the Müller-Lyer illusion (in the pictures). Ask: "Which line is longer?" Then measure them.
Watch the Museums Victoria video "How do optical illusions work?".
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What did they say about the believers?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why can our eyes trick us?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Mutaffifin is surah 83. Find ayah 32. The key word ladallun means lost, gone astray. The wrongdoers thought the believers were the lost ones, but they had it the wrong way round.
Fact: Why do the two lines in the Müller-Lyer illusion look different lengths?
Ages 5–8: Measure it. Draw the two arrow lines yourself. Measure with a ruler. Were your eyes right?
Ages 9–12: Illusion hunt. Find three more optical illusions. Explain why each one tricks our brain.
Finish with: "I found that the lines look different because ___."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will not judge anyone too quickly."
Action: Not judge anyone too quickly.
