Looking for reflections…
Shared reflections are reviewed before they appear. We feature ones that follow the spirit of the 4-I journey and suit families of all backgrounds.
Guided by the 4-I journey: Inspire, Investigate, Integrate, Impart. Use it as a starting point and make it your own.
Opening the guide…
No reflections for this ayah yet. Be the first, by reflecting with the 4-I journey below!
4-I guide
…followed by a second blast.
Start with bismillah.
Drop a pebble into still water. Ask: "What happens after the first splash?"
Watch the short video "What Is an Aftershock?".
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What follows the first blast?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What will the second blast do?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah An-Nazi'at is surah 79. Find ayah 7. The key word ar-radifah means the one that follows. Many scholars explain that a second blast will follow the first, and then everyone will be raised.
Fact: Why do aftershocks happen after a big earthquake?
Ages 5–8: Ripple watch. Drop pebbles of different sizes into water. Count the ripples each one makes.
Ages 9–12: Wave patterns. Draw how ripples spread out in circles. What happens when two ripples meet?
Finish with: "I found that aftershocks happen because ___."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will start a good 'ripple' by doing a kindness that others can copy."
Action: Start a good 'ripple' by doing a kindness that others can copy.
