Start with bismillah.

Shine a torch through the air in a dim room. Ask: "What tiny things can you see floating?"

Watch the TED-Ed video "What is dust made of?".

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What will each person see on that Day?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What have my hands sent ahead?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah An-Naba is surah 78. Find ayah 40, the last one. The key words ma qaddamat yadah mean what his hands sent ahead. Our deeds go ahead of us. Some will wish they were only dust; the believers will be glad of what they sent.

Fact: What is ordinary house dust made of?

Ages 5–8: Hands that help. Trace your hands on paper. On each finger, write a good deed your hands can do.

Ages 9–12: Dust travels. Find out how dust from the Sahara helps plants in the Amazon.

Finish with: "I found that dust is made of ___."

Talk together:

• What good things can your hands "send ahead"?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• Why does Allah warn us so clearly before that Day?
• What did you learn from the whole of Surah An-Naba?
• How does it feel to have learned all of Juz 'Amma's surahs this way?

Make a small plan: "This week, my hands will send ahead one good deed every day."

• Show someone your helping hands drawing.
• Recite Surah An-Naba (or part of it) with someone at home.
• Next time: the next surah, An-Nazi'at (79), begins with oaths by the angels. Explore it together!
