وَيُطْعِمُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِۦ مِسْكِينًۭا وَيَتِيمًۭا وَأَسِيرًا
Wa yuṭ'ʻimūna ṭṭaʻāma ʻalā ḥubbihī mis'kīnan wayatīman wa'assīran
And they feed, for the love of Allah, the indigent, the orphan, and the captive,-

They give food, even though they love it, to the poor, the orphan and the captive.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Is it easier to share something you don't like, or something you love?"
Watch the Bow Foodbank video explaining food banks to children.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Who do they feed?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why is it special to give what you love?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Insan is surah 76. Find ayah 8. The key words 'ala hubbihi can mean despite loving it, or out of love for Allah. Miskin means a poor person, yatim an orphan, and asir a captive. The righteous feed all of them.
Fact: How does a food bank collect and share food?
Ages 5–8: Share box. Choose one food you like and put it in a box for a food collection.
Ages 9–12: Food drive. Plan a small food collection with your class or family. What foods are most needed?
Finish with: "I found that food banks help by ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will share some of my favourite food with someone."
Action: Share some of your favourite food with someone.
