Start with bismillah.

Ask: "Has anyone ever kept a promise to you? How did it feel?"

Watch the Smile and Learn video about keeping your promises.

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What do the righteous keep?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why is keeping a promise so important?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Insan is surah 76. Find ayah 7. The key words yufuna bin-nadhr mean they fulfil their vows. The righteous keep their word, because they remember they will meet Allah.

Fact: What is a knot that holds strongly, and how is it tied?

Ages 5–8: Promise knot. Tie a reef knot with two ropes. Each time you keep a promise this week, tie another knot.

Ages 9–12: Promise list. Write down every promise you make this week. Tick each one you keep.

Finish with: "I found that a reef knot holds because ___."

Talk together:

• Why do people trust someone who keeps promises?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• What should we do if we can't keep a promise?
• How does remembering that Day help us keep our word?
• What would you like to ask about this ayah?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will only make promises I can keep."

• Keep every promise this week.
• Show your knot rope.
• Tell someone why keeping promises matters.
• Next time: the next ayah (76:8) says they feed people in need. Explore it together!

Action: Only make promises you can keep.
