4-I guide
Allah made the Moon a light among them and the Sun a shining lamp.
Start with bismillah.
Shine a torch on a ball in a dark room. Ask: "Does the ball make its own light?"
Watch the Kidobotica video Why Does the Moon Shine at Night?
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What are the Moon and the Sun called?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why is the Sun called a lamp?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Nuh is surah 71. Find ayah 16. The key words nuran and siraja mean a light and a lamp. A lamp makes its own light, like the Sun. The Moon reflects the Sun's light. The Quran describes them exactly.
Fact: How long does sunlight take to reach the Moon and bounce to Earth?
Ages 5–8: Torch and ball. In a dark room, shine a torch on a ball. Which is the "Sun" and which is the "Moon"?
Ages 9–12: Light compare. Find how much brighter the Sun is than the full Moon.
Finish with: "I found that the Moon shines because ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will brighten someone's day with a kind act."
Action: Brighten someone's day with a kind act.
Never look straight at the Sun.
