يُبَصَّرُونَهُمْ ۚ يَوَدُّ ٱلْمُجْرِمُ لَوْ يَفْتَدِى مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمِئِذٍۭ بِبَنِيهِ
Yubaṣṣarūnahum' . yawaddu l-muj'rimu law' yaf'tadī min' ʻadhābi yaw'mi'idhin bibanīhi
Though they will be put in sight of each other,- the sinner's desire will be: Would that he could redeem himself from the Penalty of that Day by (sacrificing) his children,

They will see each other, yet the wrongdoer will wish he could give up even his children to escape that Day's punishment.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "How do animal parents protect their babies?"

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What would the wrongdoer wish?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How serious must that Day be for someone to wish that?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Ma'arij is surah 70. Find ayah 11. The key word yaftadi means to ransom himself. In this world, parents protect their children above all. The ayah shows how hard that Day will be for wrongdoers: they would wish to trade anything to escape.
Fact: How do elephant mothers protect their calves?
Ages 5–8: Protectors. Draw three animal parents protecting their young.
Ages 9–12: Animal care. Find which animal parent looks after its young the longest.
Finish with: "I found that elephant mothers protect calves by ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will thank my parents for one way they protect me."
Action: Thank your parents for one way they protect you.
