وَإِن تَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰ لَا يَسْمَعُوا۟ ۖ وَتَرَىٰهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَيْكَ وَهُمْ لَا يُبْصِرُونَ
Wa 'in tad'ʻūhum' 'ilāl-hudā lā yas'maʻū . watarāhum' yanẓurūna 'ilay'ka wahum' lā yub'ṣirūna
If thou callest them to guidance, they hear not. Thou wilt see them looking at thee, but they see not.

Idols do not hear when you invite them to guidance; they seem to be looking at you, but they cannot see.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Can painted eyes see?"
Hoor Academy has a short Al-A'raf clip of Mahmoud Khalil Al-Husary reciting ayat 196–206. Play it all.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What do idols seem to do?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why does real sight matter?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-A'raf is surah 7. Find ayah 198. Idols have carved eyes but can't see. Some people also look without truly seeing the truth. We use our eyes and hearts to see Allah's signs.
Fact: Find Al-Hajj 22:46: it is not eyes that go blind, but hearts.
Ages 5–8: Real seeing. Look at a flower closely and notice its details.
Ages 9–12: Seeing truly. Write how hearts can see or be blind.
Finish with: "It is not eyes that go blind but ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will look closely at Allah's creation."
Action: Look closely at Allah's creation.
