Start with bismillah.

Ask: "Is there such a thing as bad luck?"

Play the short clip from Quran with Muneeb of Muneeb reciting ayat 127–141 of Al-A'raf.

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Who did they blame for bad things?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why is believing in bad luck wrong?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-A'raf is surah 7. Find ayah 131. They took credit for good and blamed believers for bad, calling them bad luck. Islam teaches there is no bad luck: everything is from Allah.

Fact: In Ya-Sin 36:18–19, people also blamed messengers as bad omens.

Ages 5–8: No bad luck. Talk about why we say 'qadarallah' instead of bad luck.

Ages 9–12: Omens. Write why Muslims don't believe in bad luck.

Finish with: "Instead of bad luck, we say qadar___."

• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• Is there bad luck?
• What do you say when something bad happens?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will say 'qadarallah' instead of 'bad luck'."
