Does that book promise you anything you like?
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Can we always get everything we want?"
Watch the All Special Needs Now video When I Don't Get What I Want.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What did they think they'd get?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why doesn't Allah give us everything we wish for?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Qalam is surah 68. Find ayah 38. The key words lama takhayyarun mean whatever you choose. They acted as if they could pick their own reward. No one can choose their reward from Allah; it depends on belief and deeds. Learning to handle a "no" calmly is a sign of strength.
Fact: What can you do to calm down when you don't get what you want?
Ages 5–8: Calm corner. Make a calm card with three things to do when you feel upset.
Ages 9–12: Wants list. Write three things you want and how you'd feel if you didn't get them.
Finish with: "I found that to calm down I can ___."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will say alhamdulillah when I hear "no"."
Action: Say alhamdulillah when you hear.
