Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What had the wise brother told them?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why didn't they listen to their brother?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Qalam is surah 68. Find ayah 28. The key word awsatuhum means the most balanced and fair of them. He had warned them to remember Allah and not be selfish, but they didn't listen. Good advice is like a lantern in the dark: it helps only if we use it.

Fact: How did people light their homes before electricity?

Ages 5–8: Advice lantern. Draw a lantern and write inside one piece of good advice you've been given.

Ages 9–12: Listening skills. Practise listening: let someone speak for one minute, then repeat what they said.

Finish with: "I found that before electricity people used ___."

• Who gives you good advice?
• How can we give advice kindly?
• What would you like to ask about this ayah?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will thank someone who gives me good advice."
