كَمَثَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ قَرِيبًۭا ۖ ذَاقُوا۟ وَبَالَ أَمْرِهِمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۭ
Kamathali -lladhīna min qab'lihim' qarīban . dhāqū wabāla 'am'rihim' walahum' ʻadhābun 'alīmun
Like those who lately preceded them, they have tasted the evil result of their conduct; and (in the Hereafter there is) for them a grievous Penalty;-

Like those just before them, they tasted the bad result of their actions, and a painful punishment awaits them.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "If you drop a glass, what happens next?"
Watch the PBS KIDS video Work It Out Wombats! Cause and Effect Song. (It has music.)
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What did they taste?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How can I choose actions with good results?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Hashr is surah 59. Find ayah 15. The key words wabala amrihim mean the bad result of their affair. Every action has a result, like a cause and its effect. Good choices lead to good results; wrong choices bring sad ones.
Fact: What is a cause, and what is an effect?
Ages 5–8: Cause and effect. Draw three pairs: rain → puddles, planting → flowers, kindness → smiles.
Ages 9–12: Good chains. Write a chain of good results from one kind act.
Finish with: "I found that a cause is ___ and an effect is ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will start one good chain with a kind act."
Action: Start one good chain with a kind act.
