نَحْنُ جَعَلْنَٰهَا تَذْكِرَةًۭ وَمَتَٰعًۭا لِّلْمُقْوِينَ
Naḥ'nu jaʻalnāhā tadh'kiratan wamatāʻan llil'muq'wīna
We have made it a memorial (of Our handiwork), and an article of comfort and convenience for the denizens of deserts.

Allah made fire something that reminds us, and a comfort for travellers in the wild.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "How do you keep a campfire safe?"
Watch the Washington State DNR video Tips to enjoy your campfire safely!
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What two things did Allah make fire to be?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What does a fire remind us of?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Waqi'ah is surah 56. Find ayah 73. The key words tadhkirah and mata' lil-muqwin mean a reminder and a benefit for travellers. Travellers crossing deserts long ago depended on fire for warmth, cooking and light. A fire also reminds us of the Hereafter, and of Allah's care in giving us what we need.
Fact: How did desert travellers long ago use fire on their journeys?
Ages 5–8: Light in the dark. In a dark room, switch a torch on and see how one small light helps everyone find their way.
Ages 9–12: Campfire rules. Write five rules for a safe campfire and share them with your family.
Finish with: "I found that travellers used fire to ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will help prepare food or drinks for someone on a journey."
Action: Help prepare food or drinks for someone on a journey.
