4-I guide
Allah asks who grew the wood that keeps a fire burning: people, or Him.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Where does the energy in burning wood come from?"
Watch the KQED QUEST video Science Spotlight: The Combustion of Wood.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Who grows the trees that give us firewood?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How can a green tree hold fire inside it?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Waqi'ah is surah 56. Find ayah 72. The key word shajaratuha means its tree. Trees catch sunlight and store its energy in their wood. When wood burns, that stored energy comes out as heat and light. People once rubbed sticks from certain desert trees together to start a fire.
Fact: How does a tree store the sun's energy in its wood?
Ages 5–8: Twig sort. Collect twigs and sort them into dry and green. Which would burn better, and why?
Ages 9–12: Energy loop. Draw how energy moves from the sun, into a tree, and out again as fire.
Finish with: "I found that a tree stores energy by ___."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will learn the name of one tree near my home."
Action: Learn the name of one tree near your home.
