Find it in the mushaf: Surah Ar-Rahman is surah 55. Find ayah 71. The key word ala' means favours. Earlier the surah said Allah taught us clear speech. A kind word can cheer someone up, calm a fight or make a new friend. The ability to speak kindly is one of His favours.
Fact: How does hearing kind words affect our mood?
Ages 5–8: Kind word jar. Write kind words on slips and give one to each family member.
Ages 9–12: Word swap. List five unkind phrases people use and a kind phrase to say instead.
Finish with: "I found that kind words make people feel ___."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will say three kind things to someone every day."
Action: Say three kind things to someone every day.
