4-I guide
We carried him on a vessel made of planks and fastenings.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "How are wooden boats built by hand?"
Watch the National Geographic video Zanzibar Dhow.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What was Nuh's vessel made of?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How did Nuh know how to build the ark?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Qamar is surah 54. Find ayah 13. The key words alwah and dusur mean planks and fastenings, like nails or fibre ropes. Builders of wooden dhows still join planks and seal them carefully so water can't get in. Nuh built his vessel with the skill Allah taught him, and Allah carried him to safety.
Fact: How do wooden boat builders keep water out between the planks?
Ages 5–8: Stick raft. Tie lolly sticks together with string and see if your raft floats.
Ages 9–12: Boat parts. Label the main parts of a wooden boat: hull, keel, planks and mast.
Finish with: "I found that boat builders seal planks with ___."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will finish a job carefully even if no one is watching."
Action: Finish a job carefully even if no one is watching.
