4-I guide
And He brought down the cities that were turned upside down.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Why is the Dead Sea so salty?"
Watch the AGU video Why is the Dead Sea so salty? (It has music.)
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What happened to these cities?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What lesson do these cities teach?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah An-Najm is surah 53. Find ayah 53. The key word al-mu'tafikah means the overturned cities. Many scholars say these were the cities of the people of Lut, near the Dead Sea, the lowest place on land. Its water is so full of salt that fish cannot live there. The land itself is a sign to reflect on.
Fact: How much saltier is the Dead Sea than the ocean?
Ages 5–8: Salt crystals. Leave a saucer of very salty water in the sun and watch salt appear as it dries.
Ages 9–12: Lowest place. Find out how far below sea level the Dead Sea is.
Finish with: "I found that the Dead Sea is about ___ times saltier than the ocean."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will choose good even when others around me don't."
Action: Choose good even when others around you don't.
