Or do they say he is a poet, and they are waiting for bad luck to strike him?
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "What makes a poem different from a story?"
Watch the TED-Ed video What makes a poem … a poem?
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What were the deniers waiting for?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why did people think the Quran was poetry?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah At-Tur is surah 52. Find ayah 30. The key word sha'ir means poet. The Arabs loved poetry and held contests for it. The Quran sounded beautiful, so some called the Prophet a poet. But the Quran is not poetry; it is the speech of Allah, with a style no poet could copy.
Fact: What are rhyme and rhythm in a poem?
Ages 5–8: Clap the beat. Clap along to a short rhyme and count the beats.
Ages 9–12: Compare. Read a short poem and a short surah in translation, and list how they feel different.
Finish with: "I found that rhythm means ___."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will listen to one beautiful recitation and notice how it makes me feel."
Action: Listen to one beautiful recitation and notice how it makes you feel.
