Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "At what two times are we told to praise Allah?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Which prayers are before sunrise and before sunset?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Qaf is surah 50. Find ayah 39. The key words tulu' ash-shams mean the rising of the sun. The Prophet was told to be patient with hurtful words and to praise Allah at these times. Many scholars connect them with fajr and 'asr. Patience and praise go together.

Ages 5–8: Sun watch. Look out of the window at sunrise or sunset and say subhanallah.

Ages 9–12: Prayer clock. Draw a clock showing the five prayer times for today.

Finish with: "I found that today sunrise is at ___ and sunset is at ___."
