مَّا يَلْفِظُ مِن قَوْلٍ إِلَّا لَدَيْهِ رَقِيبٌ عَتِيدٌۭ
How to read it
Mmā yal'fiẓu min qaw'lin 'illā laday'hi raqībun ʻatīdun
Not a word does he utter but there is a sentinel by him, ready (to note it).

4-I guide
Not a single word is spoken without a watcher ready to note it.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Can words be like seeds that grow?"
Watch the TinyTales Magic video Why Words Matter: The Power of Language for Kids.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "How many of our words are noted?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How many words do I say in a day?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Qaf is surah 50. Find ayah 18. The key word raqib means a watcher. Every single word, even jokes and whispers, is written down. That sounds big, but it is also good news: every kind word, every dhikr and every truthful sentence is recorded too.
Fact: Roughly how many words does a person speak in a day?
Ages 5–8: Word count. Count how many times you say "thank you" in one day.
Ages 9–12: Word audit. Listen to yourself for one hour and note helpful and unhelpful words.
Finish with: "I found that a person speaks about ___ words a day."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will say subhanallah when I would otherwise say something unkind."
Action: Say subhanallah when you would otherwise say something unkind.
