ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمُ ٱتَّبَعُوا۟ مَآ أَسْخَطَ ٱللَّهَ وَكَرِهُوا۟ رِضْوَٰنَهُۥ فَأَحْبَطَ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ
Dhālika bi'annahumu (i)ttabaʻū mā 'as'khaṭa -llaha wakarihū riḍ'wānahu fa'aḥ'baṭa 'aʻ'mālahum'
This because they followed that which called forth the Wrath of Allah, and they hated Allah's good pleasure; so He made their deeds of no effect.

That is because they followed what angers Allah and disliked what pleases Him, so He made their deeds worthless.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "How do you feel when you make someone you love happy?"
Watch the Muslim Kids TV video Zack's Good Intentions.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What did these people dislike?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How do I know what pleases Allah?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Muhammad is surah 47. Find ayah 28. The key word ridwanahu means His pleasure. Some people chased what Allah dislikes and avoided what He loves. Believers aim to please Allah in everything, from smiling to praying. Seeking Allah's pleasure gives our deeds value.
Fact: What is one small deed that pleases Allah?
Ages 5–8: Pleasing Allah list. Draw three things that make Allah pleased.
Ages 9–12: Hidden good. Do a good deed secretly, only for Allah, and write how it felt.
Finish with: "I found that one deed that pleases Allah is ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will do one hidden good deed only for Allah."
Action: Do one hidden good deed only for Allah.
