Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Ahqaf is surah 46. Find ayah 28. The key word qurbanan means a way to get close. People thought their idols would bring them closer to Allah, but when trouble came, the idols vanished. We don't need anyone in between: we can talk to Allah directly. Tawakkul means doing our part and trusting Allah with the rest.

Ages 5–8: Trust fall. Do a gentle trust exercise with a parent and talk about trusting Allah.

Ages 9–12: My part, Allah's part. Draw a line down a page: on one side write what you can do, on the other what you leave to Allah.

Talk together:

• Why don't we need a go-between to reach Allah?
• When has trusting Allah calmed you down?
• What would you like to ask about this ayah?
