Start with bismillah.

Ask: "What is above the clouds?"

Watch the Curiosity Crew HQ video Layers of the Atmosphere Song. (It has music.)

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What three things is Allah Lord of?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What is 'between' the sky and earth?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Ad-Dukhan is surah 44. Find ayah 7. The key words rabb as-samawat mean Lord of the heavens. Between the ground and space are layers of air that protect us, give us weather and let us breathe. Allah is Lord of all of it. The ayah ends: if only you were certain, inviting us to grow sure faith.

Fact: What is the name of the layer of air closest to the ground?

Ages 5–8: Layer jar. Pour layers of coloured sand or rice into a jar and name them as sky layers.

Ages 9–12: Between list. List ten things that are "between" the sky and the earth.

Finish with: "I found that the closest layer is the ___."

Talk together:

• What does it mean that Allah is Lord of everything between?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• How does the atmosphere protect us?
• How can we grow certain faith?
• What would you like to ask about this ayah?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will look up at the sky and remember who looks after it."

• Look up and remember Allah.
• Make a layer jar.
• Share your between list.
• Next time: the next ayah (44:8) says Allah gives life and death. Explore it together!

Action: Look up at the sky and remember who looks after it.
