4-I guide
Ha and Mim open this surah, letters whose full meaning Allah alone knows.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Can you guess why a surah might be called The Smoke?"
Watch the Ahl Quran video Learn the Quran for children: Surat Ad-Dukhan. You can play just the first few minutes.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Which surahs nearby also start like this?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What will this surah teach me about smoke?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Ad-Dukhan is surah 44, and it has fifty-nine ayat. The key word ad-dukhan means the smoke, named after ayah 10. It is one of the seven Ha-Mim surahs, which sit together in the mushaf like a family. This surah tells of the Night when the Quran was sent down, the story of Musa and Pharaoh, and a picture of the gardens and springs of Jannah.
Fact: In which juz does Surah Ad-Dukhan begin?
Ages 5–8: Smoke or cloud? Draw a puff of smoke and a cloud and talk about how they look different.
Ages 9–12: Surah preview. Skim the translation and list three topics you expect this surah to cover.
Finish with: "I found that Surah Ad-Dukhan begins in juz ___."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will listen to the opening of Surah Ad-Dukhan every day."
Action: Listen to the opening of Surah Ad-Dukhan every day.
