Find it in the mushaf: Surah Ash-Shura is surah 42. Find ayah 36. The key words khayrun wa abqa mean better and more lasting. Games, clothes and gadgets are nice, but they get old, break or bore us. What Allah keeps for believers in the Akhirah never fades. This ayah begins a list of qualities of those who receive it, continuing in the next ayat.

Ages 5–8: Ice or stone. Leave an ice cube and a stone in the sun and see which lasts.

Ages 9–12: Lasting list. Make two lists: things that will fade and things whose reward lasts forever.
