4-I guide
Ha and Mim are the first letters here, and Allah knows their full meaning.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "When your family has to decide something big, how do you decide?"
Watch the Learn the Quran video Surat 042 Ash-Shura. The opening few minutes are enough for today.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Which two letters do you hear?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why is this surah named after talking things over?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Ash-Shura is surah 42, and it has fifty-three ayat. The key word ash-shura means consultation, which is asking others for their views before deciding. The name comes from ayah 38, which praises believers who run their affairs by talking together. The surah also speaks about revelation, Allah's provision, forgiveness and patience.
Fact: In which juz does Surah Ash-Shura begin?
Ages 5–8: Family vote. Choose a snack or a game together by letting everyone give an idea first.
Ages 9–12: Name hunt. Read ayah 38 in translation and explain in one sentence why the surah carries this name.
Finish with: "I found that Surah Ash-Shura begins in juz ___."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will ask my family for their ideas before I decide something."
Action: Ask your family for their ideas before you decide something.
