ذَٰلِكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَفْرَحُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ ٱلْحَقِّ وَبِمَا كُنتُمْ تَمْرَحُونَ
Dhālikum bimā kuntum' taf'raḥūna fī l-'ar'ḍi bighay'ri l-ḥaqqi wabimā kuntum' tam'raḥūna
"That was because ye were wont to rejoice on the earth in things other than the Truth, and that ye were wont to be insolent.

That is because you used to rejoice on earth in what was not right and behaved with arrogance.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Is it right to laugh when someone gets hurt?"

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What did these people rejoice in?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What things should make me happy?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Ghafir is surah 40. Find ayah 75. The key word tamrahun means you behaved insolently. Being happy is good, but these people were happy about wrong things, like mocking others or doing harm, and they were rude and proud. Believers find joy in good things and treat others with respect.
Fact: Which ayah in Surah Al-Isra says do not walk on the earth arrogantly?
Ages 5–8: Good joy. Draw three things that make you happy in a good way.
Ages 9–12: Rude or respectful. Write three rude behaviours and the respectful way to replace each.
Finish with: "I found that the ayah is Al-Isra ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will use polite words with everyone."
Action: Use polite words with everyone.
