Start with bismillah.

Ask: "What does it feel like when something you relied on lets you down?"

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What do the people admit?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why did they realise their idols were nothing?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Ghafir is surah 40. Find ayah 74. The key word dallu means they vanished or were lost. When the truth is clear, those who worshipped idols will admit that their idols were nothing real. All those years of calling on them were wasted. That is why tawhid, worshipping Allah alone, is the most important thing to get right now.

Fact: Which prophet asked his father why he worshipped what cannot hear or see?

Ages 5–8: Empty box. Open an empty box and talk about how calling on idols is like asking an empty box for help.

Ages 9–12: Real or not? Write the difference between Allah, who is real and ever-living, and idols, which are not.

Finish with: "I found that the prophet was ___."

Talk together:

• Why is tawhid the most important belief?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• How did Ibrahim show his father the truth?
• What can we do to strengthen our tawhid?
• What would you like to ask about this ayah?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will learn the meaning of the shahadah more deeply."
