Start with bismillah.

Ask: "Where were you before you were born?"

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "How many times were they lifeless and given life?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What are the two lives?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Ghafir is surah 40. Find ayah 11. The key words amattana ithnatayn mean You caused us to die twice. Many scholars explain it like this: first we did not exist, then Allah gave us life in this world; then we die, and Allah will bring us back to life again on the Last Day. Only Allah gives life, and every life is a gift.

Fact: What are the two deaths and two lives that scholars explain in this ayah?

Ages 5–8: Then and now. Look at a baby photo and a recent photo and thank Allah for the gift of life.

Ages 9–12: Life journey. Draw a line showing before birth, this life, death and the next life.

Finish with: "I found that the two lives are ___ and ___."
