Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Which three peoples are named here?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What were the stakes of Pharaoh?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Sad is surah 38. Find ayah 12. The key word dhul-awtad means the owner of stakes or pegs. Pharaoh had huge buildings and armies held firmly like tents pegged to the ground. The people of Nuh and the people of Ad, who lived among great sand dunes, also refused their prophets. All their strength did not save them.

Fact: Which surah is named after the sand dunes where Ad lived?

Ages 5–8: Pegged tent. Make a little tent with a cloth and pegs or books, then talk about strength that does not last.

Ages 9–12: Three nations. Make a table with the nation, its prophet and one lesson from each.

Finish with: "I found that the surah is Al-___."
