They are only a band of allied groups who will be routed right there.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Does a bigger team always win?"
Watch the Bloom Kids video How 3,000 Muslims Stopped an Army of 10,000.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What will happen to the allied groups?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How did a small group win?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Sad is surah 38. Find ayah 11. The key word al-ahzab means the confederates, groups who team up. This ayah was revealed in Makkah when the Muslims were few and weak. Years later, many tribes joined together to attack Madinah. The Muslims dug a trench, prayed and stayed patient, and the huge army left without winning. Allah's promise came true.
Fact: Which surah of the Quran is named after these allied groups?
Ages 5–8: Dig a trench. Make a small trench in sand or soil and talk about how the believers protected Madinah.
Ages 9–12: Promise kept. Write how this ayah came true years after it was revealed.
Finish with: "I found that the surah is Al-___, number ___."
