وَمَآ ءَاتَيْنَٰهُم مِّن كُتُبٍۢ يَدْرُسُونَهَا ۖ وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَيْهِمْ قَبْلَكَ مِن نَّذِيرٍۢ
Wa mā 'ātay'nāhum mmin kutubin yad'russūnahā . wamā 'ar'salnā 'ilay'him' qab'laka min nnadhīrin
But We had not given them Books which they could study, nor sent messengers to them before thee as Warners.

Those people had no earlier scripture to study and no warner before the Prophet.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "How would you learn about Allah if no one had ever told you?"
Watch the Maryam Masud video Surah Saba at Madinah.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What did these people not have?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why was the Quran such a gift to them?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Saba is surah 34. Find ayah 44. The key word yadrusunaha means they study it. The Arabs of Makkah had no scripture of their own to read. The Quran came to them as a first and precious book. Their idol worship had no written basis at all. We are blessed to have the Quran to study every day.
Fact: About how many words does the Quran contain?
Ages 5–8: Book treasure. Hold the mushaf gently and talk about how special it is to have it.
Ages 9–12: Study plan. Make a plan to study one short surah's meaning this month.
Finish with: "I found that the Quran has about ___ words."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will study the meaning of one short surah with a parent."
Action: Study the meaning of one short surah with a parent.
