أَفَلَمْ يَدَّبَّرُوا۟ ٱلْقَوْلَ أَمْ جَآءَهُم مَّا لَمْ يَأْتِ ءَابَآءَهُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
'Afalam' yaddabbarū l-qaw'la 'am' jā'ahum mmā lam' ya''ti 'ābā'ahumu l-'awwalīna
Do they not ponder over the Word (of Allah), or has anything (new) come to them that did not come to their fathers of old?

Allah asks why they don't think deeply about the Quran, or whether something came to them that never came to their forefathers.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "What does 'tadabbur' mean?"
Sit quietly and hear Abdul Basit Abdus-Samad, posted by Quran English Translation. Only the start is needed.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What does Allah want them to do with the Word?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How do I reflect on an ayah?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Mu'minun is surah 23. Find ayah 68. The key word yaddabbaru comes from tadabbur, the name of this app! It means thinking deeply. Allah wants us to reflect, not just hear.
Fact: Find the ayah that asks if they don't reflect on the Quran (An-Nisa 4:82).
Ages 5–8: Mirror lake. Look at a reflection in water and talk about looking deeply.
Ages 9–12: Reflection steps. Write your own 4 steps for reflecting on an ayah.
Finish with: "I found it in Surah ___, ayah ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will reflect on one ayah with ___."
