ثُمَّ عَفَوْنَا عَنكُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ
Thumma ʻafaw'nā ʻankum mmin[m] baʻ'di dhālika laʻallakum' tash'kurūna
Even then We did forgive you; there was a chance for you to be grateful.

Even after that, Allah forgave them so that they might be grateful.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "How do you feel when someone forgives a big mistake?"
For a few quiet minutes, listen to Mishary Alafasy reciting Al-Baqarah, shared by QURAN HIFZ.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What did Allah do?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why does forgiveness lead to gratitude?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Baqarah is surah 2. Find ayah 52. Allah forgave even this big mistake. Forgiveness should make us grateful and want to do better.
Fact: Shukr means gratitude shown by heart, tongue and actions.
Ages 5–8: Thank you. Thank someone who forgave you.
Ages 9–12: Grateful. Write three ways to show shukr.
Finish with: "Allah forgave so they might be ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will say alhamdulillah ten times each day."
Action: Say alhamdulillah ten times each day.
