إِنَّ ٱلْمُبَذِّرِينَ كَانُوٓا۟ إِخْوَٰنَ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينِ ۖ وَكَانَ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ لِرَبِّهِۦ كَفُورًۭا
'Inna l-mubadhdhirīna kānū 'ikh'wāna shshayāṭīni . wakāna shshay'ṭānu lirabbihī kafūran
Verily spendthrifts are brothers of the Evil Ones; and the Evil One is to his Lord (himself) ungrateful.

People who waste are like brothers of the devils, and Shaytan is ungrateful to his Lord.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Why is wasting food or water so serious?"
Play the short clip from Farwah Khan of Maher Al-Muaiqly reciting ayat 23–39 of Al-Isra.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Who are wasteful people compared to?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How is wasting a kind of ungratefulness?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Isra is surah 17. Find ayah 27. Wasting means not valuing Allah's gifts. That's ingratitude, which is Shaytan's way. Taking care of things is thankfulness.
Fact: How much water does a dripping tap waste in a day? Find an estimate.
Ages 5–8: Waste hunt. Find and fix one way your home wastes.
Ages 9–12: Gratitude. Write how not wasting is a form of thanks.
Finish with: "I found it wastes about ___ litres."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will finish my plate and save water."
Action: Finish your plate and save water.
