Ask: "Have you watched your shadow move during the day?"

Muslim Ummah posted a short recitation of ayah 48 of An-Nahl. Listen to all of it together.

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What do shadows do?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How can a shadow bow to Allah?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah An-Nahl is surah 16. Find ayah 48. As the sun moves, shadows stretch, shrink and lie down on the ground, as if bowing to Allah. All creation submits to Him.

Fact: Shadows are shortest at midday and longest at sunrise and sunset. Measure your shadow at different times.

Ages 5–8: Shadow tracking. Mark a stick's shadow three times in a day.

Ages 9–12: Creation bows. Write how all creation submits to Allah.

Finish with: "My shadow was shortest at ___."

Talk together:

• What do shadows do?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• How does creation obey Allah?
• How do you bow to Allah?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will remember the shadows when I make sujud."

• All creation bows.
• Track the shadow.
• Tell someone one line from your creation bows writing.
• Next time: the next ayah (16:49) says everything bows to Allah. Explore it together!
