4-I guide
This ayah teaches us to ask Allah's protection from the harms that can come when the darkness of night spreads.
Start with bismillah.
At Maghrib time, sit together by a window and watch the sky slowly get darker. Ask: "What changes when night comes? What do we hear? Who comes out?"
Watch the video of a barn owl hunting. An owl can find its food even when it can't see it. How does it do that?
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What does this ayah ask Allah to protect us from?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why do some things feel scarier in the dark?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Falaq is surah 113. Find ayah 3, then look back at ayah 1. One is about light and one is about darkness. Which is which?
Fact: Which animals are nocturnal (awake at night), and how are their eyes or ears special?
Ages 5–8: Night detectives. Make a room dark and hide three soft toys. Find them using only a torch. What could you see easily? What was hard to spot?
Ages 9–12: Dusk log. Write down the time of Maghrib. Then every 10 minutes, note the colour of the sky, the sounds you hear and the lights you see, until it is fully dark.
Finish with: "I found that it took about ___ minutes to get fully dark."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, before bed, I will ___ to feel safe and calm, with ___."
Action: Practise your plan every night this week.

Do the dark activities indoors with an adult nearby, and clear the floor first.
