Start with bismillah.

Ask: "What do you say when something wonderful happens? And what do you say when you have made a mistake?"

Watch the video of salmon leaping up waterfalls. After years in the ocean, they swim all the way back home to the river where they hatched.

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "This ayah asks us to do two things. What are they?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why does Allah love it when we come back to Him?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah An-Nasr is surah 110. Find ayah 3, the last one. What does the end of the ayah tell us about Allah?

Fact: How do salmon find their way back to the river where they were born?

Ages 5–8: Two jars. Make an "Alhamdulillah" jar and a "Sorry" jar. Each time you thank Allah for something, or say sorry and fix a mistake, drop a bean in the right jar.

Ages 9–12: Evening reflection. Each evening this week, write one thing to praise Allah for and one thing to ask His forgiveness for.

Finish with: "I found that my ___ jar filled up faster."

Talk together:

• Why do you think praising Allah and asking forgiveness come together in this ayah?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• How does it feel when someone forgives you?
• How can we come back to Allah after a mistake, like the salmon coming home?
• Who could you forgive this week?

Make a small plan: "Every evening this week, before I sleep, I will ___ and ___."

• Forgive someone, or say sorry to someone, and tell your family how it felt.
• Show someone at home your two jars and explain them.
• Next time: read all three ayat of Surah An-Nasr together, then explore Surah Al-Kafirun (109), just before it.

Action: Practise your plan every evening this week.
