Start with bismillah.

Clap once in a big empty room, a stairwell or a tunnel. Do you hear an echo? Ask: "Why do we repeat the things we really want people to remember?"

Watch the video of bats hunting in the dark. They find their way by listening to the echoes of their own calls!

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Have you heard this ayah before in this surah?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why does the Quran repeat some ayat?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Kafirun is surah 109. Find ayah 5, then look at ayah 3. Compare them word by word in the Arabic and in the translation. Are they exactly the same?

Fact: How do bats use echoes to find their food in the dark?

Ages 5–8: Echo hunt. With a grown-up, find places where your voice echoes: a hall, a stairwell, an underpass. Where is the echo loudest?

Ages 9–12: Repetition hunt. Find other places in the Quran where words or ayat repeat, such as Surah Ash-Sharh (94:5–6) or Surah Ar-Rahman. Why might repeating something help?

Finish with: "I found that ayah ___ and ayah ___ have the same words."

Talk together:

• Why do teachers and parents sometimes repeat important things?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• What important message do you think is being repeated here?
• How can we be firm in our faith and gentle with people at the same time?
• Which part of this ayah would you like someone to explain more?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will learn one ayah of Surah Al-Kafirun each day at ___."

• Recite the ayat you have learned to someone at home.
• Show a younger child where to find an echo, and explain how bats use them.
• Next time: the last ayah (109:6) completes the surah. Read the whole of Surah Al-Kafirun together!

Action: Keep to your plan all week, and tick it off each day.
