4-I guide
This ayah opens Surah Al-Ma'un by asking us to look at the kind of person who denies the Day of Judgement.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Do you work differently when you know your teacher will look at your work later? Why?"
Watch the video from the Smithsonian about ice cores. Layers of ice deep in Antarctica and Greenland have kept a record of the Earth for hundreds of thousands of years.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What question does this ayah ask us?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "If everything is recorded, how should I live today?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Ma'un is surah 107, and it has seven ayat. Find ayah 1. It begins with a question. Can you find the question word in the translation?
Fact: How do scientists read the history of the Earth from a tube of ice?
Ages 5–8: Layer jar. Pour a layer of sand, then rice, then lentils into a clear jar, one each day. On the last day, "read" the jar from the bottom: what went in first?
Ages 9–12: Look at the picture of rock layers. Which layer do you think is the oldest, and why? Then write down three things from today that you would be happy to have on your own record.
Finish with: "I found that the oldest layer is at the ___."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, at ___, I will do one good thing that I'd be happy to see on my record: ___."
Action: Try your plan on three different days this week.
