Start with bismillah.

Look at a chair or a table with four legs. Ask: "What happens if we take away one leg? Two legs?"

Watch the short BBC video of a coral reef growing, filmed over a long time. Coral grows slowly and patiently, and many creatures work together on the reef.

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Who is not in loss? How many things does this ayah list?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Which of these four things do I need to work on?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-'Asr is surah 103. Find ayah 3, the last one. Count the four things in the translation: two that we do ourselves, and two that we do together.

Fact: About how fast does coral grow each year?

Ages 5–8: Four-leg chair. Draw a chair and write one of the four things on each leg: believing, doing good, encouraging truth, encouraging patience.

Ages 9–12: Buddy pact. Pick a friend or sibling. Agree on one way you will remind each other of something true and good, and one way to help each other be patient this week.

Finish with: "I found that coral grows about ___ each year."

Talk together:

• Why do you think two of the four things are about helping each other?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• When was a time someone helped you to be patient?
• How can we remind each other kindly, without being bossy?
• Is there anything about this surah you'd like to ask a teacher or an ustaz/ustazah?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will encourage ___ to ___, and I will be patient when ___."

• Recite all of Surah Al-'Asr to your family, and explain the four legs.
• Make a family poster of the four legs and stick it somewhere everyone sees.
