Start with bismillah.

Hold a ribbon or tissue up near an open window. Ask: "What's moving it? Can you see the wind?"

Watch the Met Office animation about wind direction and speed. (It has background music.)

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Who comes down on this night?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What are angels doing when they come down?" Younger children can draw theirs (but not the angels themselves; draw the night sky instead).

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Qadr is surah 97. Find ayah 4. The key words ar-ruh mean "the Spirit". Many scholars explain that this means the angel Jibril. Ask your teacher about it.

Fact: How do we measure wind we can't see?

Ages 5–8: Wind finder. Make a windsock from a paper cup and ribbons. Hang it outside and check which way the wind blows each day.

Ages 9–12: Wind speed. Make a simple anemometer with four paper cups and two straws on a pencil. Count how many turns it makes in 30 seconds.

Finish with: "I found that the wind today was blowing from ___."

Talk together:

• We can't see the wind, but we know it's real. What else is real but unseen?
• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
• Angels only come down with Allah's permission. What does that tell us about Allah?
• How might it feel to know angels fill the earth on that night?
• What would you like to ask an ustaz or ustazah about angels?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will say a dua before bed and remember the angels Allah sends."

• Keep your bedtime dua plan.
• Show someone at home your windsock or anemometer.
• Teach a younger child: angels are real, even though we can't see them.
• Next time: the next ayah (97:5) is about peace until dawn. Explore it together!
