فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمْدَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّهُم بِذَنۢبِهِمْ فَسَوَّىٰهَا
Fakadhdhabūhu faʻaqarūhā fadam'dama ʻalay'him' rabbuhum bidhan[m]bihim' fassawwāhā
Then they rejected him (as a false prophet), and they hamstrung her. So their Lord, on account of their crime, obliterated their traces and made them equal (in destruction, high and low)!

This ayah tells us they rejected their prophet and harmed the she-camel, so their Lord brought ruin on them all because of their sin.
Start with bismillah.
A gentle note for parents: this ayah describes a punishment. Keep it short and calm; there's no need for detail.
Build a little sand town on a tray, then blow on it gently. Ask: "What happened to the town?"

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What did the people do, and what happened?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why does Allah tell us this story?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Ash-Shams is surah 91. Find ayah 14. The key word fasawwaha means He levelled it, made it flat. Their homes were left empty.
Fact: How far can a sand dune move in a year?
Ages 5–8: Wind and sand. Pile sand on a tray and blow through a straw from one side. Watch the "dune" move.
Ages 9–12: Story lessons. Read ayat 11 to 14 together. Write down three warnings the story gives us about how to behave.
Finish with: "I found that dunes move because ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will take one lesson from this story and ___."
