فَلْيَضْحَكُوا۟ قَلِيلًۭا وَلْيَبْكُوا۟ كَثِيرًۭا جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ
Fal'yaḍ'ḥakū qalīlan wal'yab'kū kathīran jazā'an[m] bimā kānū yak'sibūna
Let them laugh a little: much will they weep: a recompense for the (evil) that they do.

Let them laugh a little now, because they will weep a lot later as a result of what they did.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Can a short laugh lead to a long cry?"
Listen together as Mishary Alafasy recites ayat 80–86 of At-Tawbah, a short clip shared by Daily listen Quran.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What will they do later?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why does the ayah compare laughing and weeping?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah At-Tawbah is surah 9. Find ayah 82. Those who mocked and stayed behind laughed for a short while. The ayah warns that they will weep much later. It's a reminder that our choices have results.
Fact: In At-Tatfif 83:34, believers laugh at the end.
Ages 5–8: Happy endings. Talk about choices that lead to happy endings.
Ages 9–12: Laughter and tears. Write how short pleasure can lead to long regret.
Finish with: "At the end, the believers will ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will make choices that lead to good endings."
