But on that Day the believers will be the ones laughing at those who disbelieved.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Have you ever kept going at something hard, and then felt so happy when it worked out?"
Watch the San Diego Zoo video of a laughing kookaburra.
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Who laughs on that Day?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why will the believers laugh then?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Mutaffifin is surah 83. Find ayah 34. Look back at ayah 29: the laughter has turned around. The believers were patient, and on that Day their joy will be complete. Earlier in the surah (ayat 29 to 32) Allah tells us that those people used to laugh at the believers and mock them. On that Day it will be the other way round: the believers will be the ones at ease and smiling, as Allah's reward for their patience. (In this life, we never laugh at people.)
Fact: Why does the kookaburra make its "laughing" call?
Ages 5–8: Then and now. Draw a picture of something that was hard at first and then made you happy (learning to ride a bike, learning a surah).
Ages 9–12: Mirror ayat. Compare ayah 29 with ayah 34. What changed and why?
Finish with: "I found that kookaburras laugh to ___."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, when someone is unkind, I will stay patient and kind."
Action: This week, when someone is unkind, stay patient and kind.
