4-I guide
This ayah speaks of the time when the seas are made to blaze.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Can water be hot at the bottom of the cold, dark ocean?"
Watch the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution video "What are hydrothermal vents?".
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What will happen to the seas?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "How can the sea burn?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah At-Takwir is surah 81. Find ayah 6. The key word sujjirat means set ablaze or made to overflow. Scholars explain it in both ways. Even today, there is great heat under the sea floor.
Fact: How hot is the water that comes out of a hydrothermal vent?
Ages 5–8: Hot and cold. Put a drop of food colouring in a cup of hot water and a cup of cold water. Which spreads faster?
Ages 9–12: Vent life. Find out what lives around hydrothermal vents without any sunlight.
Finish with: "I found that vent water can be as hot as ___ degrees."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will learn one amazing fact about the ocean and share it."
Action: Learn one amazing fact about the ocean and share it.

Ask an adult to pour the hot water.
