Looking for reflections…
Shared reflections are reviewed before they appear. We feature ones that follow the spirit of the 4-I journey and suit families of all backgrounds.
Guided by the 4-I journey: Inspire, Investigate, Integrate, Impart. Use it as a starting point and make it your own.
Opening the guide…

4-I guide
Yet it is not your fault if he does not grow in goodness.
Start with bismillah.
Put a celery stalk in coloured water. Ask: "We gave it water. Who makes the water climb up?"
Watch the SciShow Kids video "The Color-Changing Celery Experiment!".
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Whose job is it if someone doesn't grow in goodness?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "If I remind someone and they don't listen, is it my fault?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah 'Abasa is surah 80. Find ayah 7. The key words wa ma 'alayka mean "it is not upon you". Our job is to share the message kindly; guiding hearts is Allah's.
Fact: How does water travel up a plant's stem?
Ages 5–8: Colour celery. Put celery in coloured water overnight. Cut it the next day. What do you see?
Ages 9–12: Tiny tubes. Find out about xylem, the tiny tubes inside a plant.
Finish with: "I found that water travels up a plant through ___."

Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will do my part kindly and leave the result to Allah."
Action: Do your part kindly and leave the result to Allah.
